Giambattista (John B.) Pace, 70, of cancer on April 3. In 1977 he founded Globe Marble & Tile Inc. in North Hollywood, Calif., and soon became the largest importer of marble, granite and natural stone on the West Coast. Born on Jan 31, 1938 in Dragonetti, Italy, he originally served in the country’s Carabinieri corps before emigrating to the United States after falling in love and marrying Rose, his wife of 46 years. He maintained a strong bond and love for his roots in Italy while establishing new roots as a proud American; he is survived by his wife, five children, eight grandchildren, and a brother and a sister.
