STAFFORD, Texas – Two designers will be heading for Spain after winning the Ugly Kitchen Contest sponsored by Cosentino® North America.

Tamar Chang of Pedini/Thurston Kitchen and Bath in Denver and Jan Rutgers of V6B Design Group in Vancouver, British Columbia, each won an expenses-paid trip (valued at $5,000) for two, including a visit to the home facilities for Silestone® quartz surfaces and the international Cosentino Group in Cantoria, Spain.

Cosentino North America offered the contest to correspond with the release of seven new Silestone designer colors. Entrants could enter redesign projects of any residential size, as long as the finished work incorporated any selection from Silestone’s Mountain, Life, Zen, Platinum or River series.

“These colors are ideal for designers who are looking to incorporate the latest design trends with the functionality of a surface that is scratch-, stain- and scorch-resistant,” said Lorenzo Marquez, vice president of marketing for Cosentino North America.

“The idea behind this contest is to recognize designers for their talent as they focus on transforming dated kitchens through beautiful, elegant and state-of-the-art design,” he added.

Winners were selected in the categories of large kitchens (50+ ft²) and medium kitchens (25 ft²-49 ft²). Second- and third-place winners received cash prices of $2,000 and $1,000, respectively.
